Ross, Lloyd Re-Signed
The Ravens re-signed kicker Rhys Lloyd and running back Cory Ross to the active roster one day after releasing tackle Mike Kracalik and tight end Lee Vickers, both of whom were signed to the practice squad today.
With injuries to tackles Jonathan Ogden (toe) and Adam Terry (ankle), Kracalik was brought up from the practice squad last week before the Ravens played the Buffalo Bills as insurance behind rookie Jared Gaither. Gaither earned the start at left tackle.
In addition, Baltimore was light at tight end, where Todd Heap (hamstring) and Daniel Wilcox (foot) were held out of last weekend's contest, prompting Vickers' activation.
Lloyd, the strong-legged kickoff specialist, and Ross, a solid backup kick returner, were released Saturday to make room for Kracalik and Vickers.
The Ravens also brought three players in for workouts: wideouts Onrea Jones and Todd Lowber and quarterback Sam Hollenbach.
Jones spent one month on the Green Bay Packers' practice squad before being released Oct. 22. As a senior at Hampton, the 6-foot-2, 203-pounder started all 12 games and finished with 57 catches for 679 yards and five scores.
Lowber actually never played football before joining the Minnesota Vikings in training camp. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Lowber is an athletic former basketball and track and field star at Division III Ramapo College in New Jersey. He spent time with the Minnesota Vikings in training camp before being signed to the New York Giants practice squad for two weeks.
University of Maryland fans would recognize Hollenbach as the signal-caller that went 203-of-328 for 2,371 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2006.
