Roy Anderson Biography

Roy Anderson, who has been with the Ravens since 2005 when he started as a member of the personnel department, officially joined the coaching staff in April, 2009 as the defensive assistant. In this position, he primarily works with defensive line coach Clarence Brooks, while also being responsible for quality control duties, including self-scouting, analyzing game film and breaking down opponent tendencies. Anderson’s experience with some of the top collegiate football programs in the country has been a valuable addition to the Ravens’ staff.

2005-2008: (with Baltimore) 2008: Split time with the personnel department and coaching staff, working mainly as a coaching assistant with the defensive line…Also compiled self-scouting reports and did computer game-planning. 2005-2007: Was a player personnel assistant…Involved in the Draft and free-agency process through evaluating players, organizing free-agent tryouts and monitoring potential trade transactions.

2004: (with Louisiana State) Worked as a graduate assistant with the offense, specifically the wide receivers, during a season that culminated with the Tigers’ appearance in the Capital One Bowl…Helped guide current NFL WRs Dwayne Bowe, Buster Davis, Skyler Green and Early Doucet…Organized computer breakdowns of opponents while also preparing opponent scouting reports and self-scouting reports…Assisted the coaching staff with defensive scout team and recruiting activities.

2003: (with Florida State) As a student assistant, Anderson worked primarily with the quarterbacks when the Seminoles won the ACC…Helped guide QB Chris Rix, who had his 1st 3,000-yard passing season in 2003…Aided the coaching staff with the defensive scout team, opponent film breakdown and self-scouting reports…Assisted with recruiting activities for potential student-athletes.

2002: (with Florida A&M) Was a graduate assistant who worked with the quarterbacks individually…Tutored QB Casey Printers, who went on to be the CFL Player of the Year for the 2003-04 season…The Rattlers led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in passing yards per game (250.8) in 2002…Other duties involved managing quarterback position meetings, preparing offensive scouting reports and organizing activities for prospective student-athletes.

College: Was a 4-year letterman at QB while attending Howard University…Named to the All-MEAC Scholar-Athlete Team in 2001…2-year recipient of the Howard University Scholar-Athlete Award (2000 and 2001)…Graduated in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration…Earned a master of science degree in sports management from Florida State in 2003.

Personal: Attended Godby (Tallahassee, FL) HS…Lettered all 4 years in football (QB) and baseball (CF, RF)…Also played basketball.
